We understand what you are going through

Dental anxiety has many faces. Some people fear pain, others the feeling of losing control in the dental chair. Some carry a bad experience from childhood with them. Others again feel uncomfortable with the sounds or the smell of a dental practice. Whatever it is for you, you can talk about it openly with us. Without pressure. Without judgement.

Our commitment

We do not treat anything against your will. Every step is discussed with you beforehand, announced and adapted to your wishes. If you need a break, give us an agreed signal and we stop immediately. This sense of safety is the foundation on which trust can grow.

What matters to us

Four things that are not an optional extra for us, but a fixed part of the process when someone comes to us with anxiety.

Time

We allow more time for your appointment. No time pressure, room for breaks and questions.

Listening

Feel free to tell us what worries you. The more we know about it, the better we can adapt to you.

Understanding

Every step is explained beforehand: what you will feel, what you will hear and how long it will take.

Having a say

You decide what is possible for you in each situation. An agreed hand signal stops any step immediately.

Our approach for people with anxiety

The getting-to-know-you conversation

For patients with dental anxiety, the first appointment often focuses on getting to know each other: an unhurried, in-depth conversation about what is on your mind. Whether an examination or treatment already takes place is decided individually, together with you. We listen without pushing and consider together what a next step could look like that feels manageable for you.

Step by step

We start with what you feel able to do. Often that is a short check-up, perhaps a gentle cleaning. Successful appointments build trust. Larger treatments only take place when you are ready for them. Sometimes that takes one appointment, sometimes several months. Both are fine.

More time than usual

We deliberately allow more time for appointments with anxious patients. This means there is no time pressure, and there is room for breaks, questions and a calm pace. Where possible, we give these appointments as the first of the day, before the practice is in full swing.

Clear communication

We explain every step beforehand: what you will feel, what you will hear and how long it will take. Something that has been announced is much less frightening than the unknown. We avoid medical jargon wherever there is an everyday word.

Additional help if needed

Local anaesthetic

A reliable local anaesthetic is the basis for treatment with as little pain as possible. We take our time to administer it gently, if needed with a numbing gel applied to the gum first, so that you hardly feel the injection itself.

No nitrous oxide or general anaesthesia

We treat exclusively under local anaesthetic. We do not offer nitrous oxide, sedation or general anaesthesia. Instead, we rely on time, clear agreements and breaks whenever you need them. We never decide over your head; we take every step together with you.

How your first visit works

Booking

Simply tell us on the phone that you are anxious. Of course, we treat this confidentially and allow enough time for your concerns.

Getting to know each other

First, we talk in depth. You get to know the rooms, the team and us. We talk about your history and your fears. Whether an examination or treatment already takes place is something we decide together.

A gentle start

We begin with what you feel able to do. Nothing more. Perhaps a check-up, perhaps a small cleaning.

Building up at your pace

Trust grows with every successful treatment. Step by step, we can then move on to larger treatments when you are ready.

A first look inside the practice

What you have already seen feels less unfamiliar on your first visit. This is your route through the practice, from the entrance to the treatment room.
